Introducing The Soul Patch Farm

Welcome visitors.

This is my very first post to the site. I’m very new to blogging, so bear with me as the site grows and takes shape. My life partner, Kim, had a group of followers to her site “2Goldens”, and with the creation of this site, I will borrow heavily from her blog knowledge and maybe some of her devoted followers.  Her site chronicled our life in Stratford, PE over a 3 year period.  With our move to Nine Mile Creek last year, we thought it would be worthwhile to create a site where we both logged entries.  This site will be a collective of our experiences, successes, and potentially some missteps.

It’s always been a dream of mine to own a small hobby farm. We now live on an acre and three quarter property in rural PEI. By no means is it a farm but rather a small homestead property. Part of the property is uncleared and wooded, but we have a nice size fenced backyard and some flower bed gardens are already in place from the previous owners. Again, our efforts will be small-scale but I hope to create a new, larger vegetable garden (The Soul Patch) to grow a variety of vegetables for our consumption. I intend to offer some of my bounty for sale this year locally.

I am also entering the realm of keeping backyard chickens. Again, on a small scale level. I have begun constructing a coop (The Scratch Pad) and our small flock of chickens has been ordered. We are both very excited by this prospect.

So, stayed tuned for future posts and pictures as the snow melts and the fun begins at The Soul Patch Farm.
